More intimacy!

Hi!

We're Adam and Karissa King

And helping married couples thrive is our FAVORITE!

What does it take to have a really good marriage?

People say stuff like:

  • "Just trust God"
  • "Hang in there - things will work out somehow."
  • "All you need is love."

It's true that couples need faith, hope and love. But a great marriage needs even more. We learned that as newlyweds. Because we grew up in good-church homes, we assumed marriage would be a piece of (wedding) cake.

LOL! We're both oldest children - and strong willed too! We quickly discovered we needed MAJOR help in so many areas-our communication habits, our conflict resolution skills, our finances, sex life, and more.

Early in our marriage, we worked with teens and helped lead music at our church. Even though we loved that, we wanted to deepen our relationship AND help other couples grow too.

So, that's what we've done for most our 16 years of married life: work with married couples and help individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, and various addictions (especially addiction to pornography.)

That and become the proud parents of Adeline and Forest!

Why should anyone trust us?

Karissa has a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology and a PhD in Theology and Biblical interpretation. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

Adam has a Masters degree in Philosophy and Christian Apologetics and is a Certified Life Coach.

We're also certified as Prepare/Enrich (P/E) marriage counselors, we're Gottman-trained, and we both taught at Wilson University.

Together we've counseled thousands of couples, and led dozens of marriage events and retreats.

We host a weekly podcast that has been downloaded more than 1.5 million times! And we're constantly developing popular new resources for couples and families...

What's our guiding philosophy?

It's a question, actually. "Why be married and just get by, when you can have a marriage that's intimate, adventurous, and purposeful?"

We figure you want that kind of marriage or you wouldn't be here on our site. Good for you!

You should know that DYMC is a no-judgment zone. This is a place where, if you don't love the marriage story you've written so far, you can start writing a better one today!

Hey, we're glad you're here... and we hope you'll stick around!

It's true that couples need faith, hope and love. But a great marriage needs even more. We learned that as newlyweds. Because we grew up in good-church homes, we assumed marriage would be a (giant) piece of (wedding) cake.

So, that's what we've done for most our 14+ years of married life: work with married couples and help individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, and various addictions (especially addiction to pornography.)

That and become the proud parents of Adeline and Forest!

MARRIAGE AND FAMILY

THERAPIST

Cynthia Pereira, MA

Cynthia is passionate about helping mamas keep their marriage alive while maintaining stability in their role as a parent, friend, and child of God. As a wife (married to Victor since 2014) and Mama of two (Jaxson - 2020 and Sarai - 2023), Cynthia understands the constant demands that a mother feels when she's trying to juggle home life and career/ministry. Whether you're working through post-partum depression/anxiety, or just wanting a relatable professional to help you process some stuff out loud, Cynthia will walk with you in online counseling. Cynthia has been a therapist at DYMC since 2019 and holds a Bachelor's degree in Human Development and a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology. Cynthia also runs Moms with Babes, a monthly support group for moms at her local church in the Sacramento area.

CLINICIAN, SPEAKER

Not only is Ashley a skilled therapist and anointed speaker, we've officially dubbed her DYMC's Creator of Opportunities. Since she and her husband serve as pastor of a thriving church, she's equipped to be a liaison between DYMC and pastors/churches across the globe. If you have questions about getting marriage resources into your church or small group, Ashley will guide you each step of the way. Ashley and her husband, Evan (married since 2013), are also available to speak at your church's marriage retreat. Ashley holds a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and is pursuing her Ed.D in Counseling. Evan and Ashley have three amazing kiddos: Vivian (2017), Gemma (2019), and Charlie (2022).

VISION NINJA, SPEAKER

Yes, that's his real title... "Executive Vision Ninja" to be exact. Evan is always looking for ways to further the vision of DYMC and is a dynamic speaker at marriage retreats with his wife, Ashley (married since 2013). Evan holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, a Master's degree in Executive Leadership, pastors a growing church and leads multiple other kingdom-minded endeavors, including "Think on These Things" (a podcast on mental health issues within the church), Mastermind Leadership Co., and FOWNTN. When he's not preaching or singing, Evan can be found adventuring and making memories with his family.

Why be married and just get by, when you can have a marriage that's intimate, adventurous, and purposeful?
